Brides, take note! Learn how to get a white smile for your wedding fast with these easy tips.
You want to smile with confidence on your wedding day, which is what we’re here to help with! From a few cosmetic options you have depending on how long it is until the big day to helping to reduce staining with the foods and drinks you consume, we’ve got you covered.
Consider Cosmetic Options
The first thing you can do if you want to get your smile ready is to consider your cosmetic options. If you want to make any changes to your teeth, whether it’s to make them brighter, straighter or more even, you’ll need some form of cosmetic treatment. Your options will vary depending on how long it is until the big day, so we’re here to introduce a few of them!
6 Months To A Year: Invisalign
If you’re prepared, it’s a while until your big day, and you want to straighten your teeth, then Invisalign can be a great option. This is a permanent solution to straightening your smile and can be really transformative. Treatment typically takes between 6 months for minor cases and potentially 18 months to 2 years for more severe cases, so get booked in for a consultation with your dentist Solihull or Southampton as soon as you can to keep this option open.
2 To 3 Months: Veneers
If you want a dramatic transformation, then veneers will be the way forward. You have options for porcelain veneers, which take slightly longer and are more expensive, but last up to 15 years, or composite veneers, which take just one sitting, are more affordable and last around 7 years. You can have all of your teeth done, or a select number, for a real smile transformation.
Less Than A Month: Teeth Whitening
Last but not least, if it’s less than a month until your wedding, then teeth whitening is a good option. Usually, this treatment takes around 3 weeks when you have it done professionally (which we’d always advise for safety and for the best results), so it’s still achievable. Sometimes other treatments can be done, like composite bonding, but this isn’t always possible.
Avoid Foods and Drinks That Can Stain
If you’re not absolutely set on cosmetic treatment, are happy with your smile, and just want to keep them looking as white as they are currently, then we’d recommend avoiding foods and drinks that can stain your teeth. In terms of drinks, tea, coffee and red wine can all contribute to your teeth staining, so reducing your intake of these and replacing them with water can help to minimise any staining before the big day.
With food, anything that is very tomato-based, like pasta dishes or curry dishes, can contribute to staining. Also, anything with lots of artificial colours can also be bad! Avoiding very sugary foods where you can is also a good thing to focus on, as this can contribute to overall poor oral health and discolouration.
Keep Your Lips Moisturised
If you want your smile to look great, you also need to make sure your lips are hydrated so that you can smile to your fullest! You should apply a lip balm at least once a day in the run-up to your big day (ideally for at least a month), to ensure you don’t risk having any dry skin close to the big day.
Try not to go overboard with this, as if you apply it too often (say 3 times a day), then you may become reliant on it and you might end up getting chapped lips that way too. So, once a day in the run-up to your wedding will help you to show off your smile.
Book A Dentist and Hygienist Appointment
Last but not least, you should book a dentist and hygienist appointment a few weeks before the wedding. Seeing your dentist will ensure that everything is healthy and that there are no potential issues that may arise before the big day. Also, booking in to see your hygienist for a clean and polish will remove any plaque buildup and some surface stains to make sure everything looks great and is ready for the wedding!
